Connect with Your Why

For this lesson you’ll need:

  • A safe space
  • Your journal (any exercise book will do)

Did you take a minute to reflect on your why?

I hope so, because we are going to go DEEPER. Let’s get you all set for an amazing journey into the depths of your ‘why.’

First things first, we’re gonna need some Zen in the mix. 🧘‍♂️ Find a space where you feel comfortable, safe and can tune into yourself. This could be anywhere from your bedroom to a quiet park, as long as it’s your little slice of peace. 🌳

(You can print this page and take it with you if you’re heading out into nature, or read through the instructions, take notes, and head out after your clear on what to do.)

Next up, slow it down. 🐢 The world’s not going anywhere, so take some time for yourself. Let’s hit the pause button on the world outside for a moment. Ready to sync up with the rhythm of your breath? Breathe in… hold it… and breathe out. 🌬️ Take as long as you need until you start feeling S L O W.

Now, get out your journal. 📒 It’s about to be your new best friend on this journey. Trust me, you’re gonna want to record this.

Here’s some prompts for you to think about:

Ask yourself, “Why am I here doing this course?” Write down whatever springs to mind, no answer is too small or too big. This is about you, remember?

Got an answer? Awesome! Now ask “why” again. For example, if your answer was “I want to be happier,” ask “Why do I want to be happier?” Jot down your answer.

Keep repeating this, peeling back the layers of your ‘why’ like an onion, until you’ve asked ‘why’ five times. You’ll know you’ve hit gold when your answer feels really profound and deeply personal.

💡 TIP: try to frame your upcoming why to uncover an emotion. See the example below of how you could get stuck in a loop without the right prompt:

I want to be a better parent -> Why -> So my kids model a better frame of operating in the world -> Why -> Because the world can be a difficult place -> Why -> Because of many political reasonsWAY OFF TRACK!

Instead:

I want to be a better parent -> Why -> So my kids model a better frame of operating in the world -> Why is this important to me? -> Because I love my kids -> Why -> Because I just really love my kids … A powerful bottom, and a powerful why!

Don’t be surprised if you find yourself uncovering some powerful truths about yourself and your motivations. It might be emotional, it might be upliftingit might be both! Remember, this is your journey. Honor whatever comes up for you.

Once you’ve uncovered your deep ‘why’, take a moment to let it soak in. Feel free to jot down any reflections or insights that come to you. This is your compass as you journey through this course, and it’s something you can return to whenever you need a reminder of why you started.

Alright! Now that you’ve connected with your ‘why’, you’re all set to continue on this journey of self-discovery and personal growth. 🚀
