Design Your Best Learning Plan

The path to mastery is paved with intention.

Here at BU Happiness College, we surmise that your purpose in joining us is to cultivate a better understanding of your mind, emotions, and the intricacies of your own happiness. And for that, we urge you to approach your learning journey with a sense of intentionality. 🌟

There’s a significant contrast between casually absorbing a podcast in the background versus fully immersing yourself in a live masterclass, or sitting down with a notebook and pen to genuinely absorb and reflect on a previous workshop’s content.

Understandably, not every learning moment demands your full attention; sometimes, a podcast playing in the background can provide beneficial nuggets of wisdom. However, it’s essential that this style of passive learning complements more active, intentional learning experiences and does not become your sole learning approach. 🎧

To truly seize the benefits of your journey at BU Happiness College, we heartily suggest that you pause and take the time to sketch out your ideal learning plan. After all, while we can provide an array of knowledge and tools to guide your journey, you remain the ultimate expert on yourself. It’s part of your commitment to your growth to tailor this journey to your unique needs. 📝

So, let’s dive into designing your personalized learning plan, intentionally tailored to your specific needs and preferences.

🌱 ACTION: Charting a learning plan.

Grab your journal, open up an electronic document, or use your favorite journaling app; now, spend some time reflecting on the following questions, along with any others that come to mind. Let your responses flow freely, and if you’re inspired to explore additional aspects of your learning style not covered below, feel free to include those as well. 💡

  1. When does your mind feel the most receptive? Are you more of a morning, lunchtime, afternoon, or evening learner?
  2. Do you prefer to learn in bite-sized 20-30 minute increments or in immersive deep dives lasting over an hour?
  3. Is there a particular location where you feel you can focus best, like a home office, a park, or your bedroom?
  4. How do you best digest new information – by listening to it, reading it, or discussing it with others?
  5. Do you enjoy listening to music while you learn, or do you prefer silence?
  6. How frequently do you need to take breaks to keep your learning effective and enjoyable?
  7. How often do you realistically foresee yourself engaging with a Lesson? (Although we recommend once a week, we encourage you to shape your own schedule that works best for your needs). 🗓️

In answering all these questions a clear schedule should arise, alongside the specific of when and how you want to approach your content.

These will carry over into our next lesson where we will make a calendar commitment.
